Memorial and Exhibition
JAN ŽIŽKA FROM TROCNOV EXHIBITION
This interactive multimedia exhibition is dedicated to Jan Žižka, his life, his legacy, and the historical significance of this Hussite military leader. Visitors will find a variety of interesting exhibits, information kiosks with educational programs, and interactive games related to this period. These include, for example, a film about Jan Žižka, a baptismal font from the Church of St. Martin in Střížov, a model of the Čáslav Calvary, archaeological finds, and a variety of depictions of Jan Žižka. You will also find a children’s corner where kids can dress up in period costumes. The exhibition also features a clip from Otakar Vávra’s film Jan Žižka, specifically the scene of the Battle of Sudoměř, which was actually filmed on the dam of Škaredný Pond near Sudoměř. Vávra’s film from the Hussite trilogy is one of the most famous portrayals of the Trocnov native and that era. The exhibition’s narrative was compiled by Petr Čornej, a leading Czech historian and expert on the Hussite period.
